Schizophrenic City Daytime has gone its own way Night time is here to stay Daytime is Museum Square Night time is for De Wallen fare As I gaze upon your gabled facades The Oude Kerk, a myriad of bars A dark side, the night arena I feel your schizophrenia Daytime I ride the grachtengordels Night time I watch sordid whore deals Daytime has culture and history Night time drunk/pissed Brits touristy The Huis Marseille by day is an art delight I hit the coffee bars for the shame of night Neither sterile nor homogenised Girl I miss your schizophrenic eyes Daytime has gone its own way Night time is here to stay Daytime is Museum Square Night time is for De Wallen fare. © 2014. Cloud Seeding Well I am just a simple man, But something is going wrong around here? Big, black clouds are hanging over me, And there’s too much rain for this time of year. The weather girl forces a smile, But the sentiment was lost long ago. For forty days and forty nights, There seems to be no end in sight? Dear Lord, this just can’t be right? Cause the rain, it keeps falling down! Well I am just a curious man, To find out what’s going on around here? Questions; I have quite a few, But the answers are never quite that clear? ”Cloud-Seeding, that’s quite absurd! Shut-up, sign-off and accept our word!” Conspiracy or down-right lies, A cover-up – that’s no surprise! The facts that cannot be denied, Cause the rain, it keeps falling down! Well I’ve become a frightened man, Because something is going wrong around here? Men-in-suits are watching me, Their intentions are none to clear? A big, black car pulls up outside Looks like I’m going to be driven out of town! I’ll make my move, I’ll cut and run, I’ll jump the lights, jump the gun, Slip out the back and I’ll be gone, Into the rain, that keeps falling down! © 2014. New Tradition Music.

Angry Once Again One day an angry young man wrote, So naïve, but he let his feelings show, Wrote of politics, Global war, The famine child, Though that they’d stand tall, Smash the walls, Make it all worthwhile; Yeah, yeah. Then he’s striking out all on his own, Got to make your way, got to build a home of stone, You walk the middle road, Carrying your heavy load, Work in your own time, The system’s fine, Let the good times roll; Yeah, yeah. But when he scratched below the surface of the world, Found the apple was rotten to the core, Thieving tax man’s hand, The corporate plans, Take your future away! Crumbled NHS, Pension scheme bereft, Finance your own old age; Yeah, yeah. © 2014. New Tradition Music.

Blacklist Blues I always swim against the tide Find the wave others won’t ride But there’s pain to pay Woah, there’s pain to pay When my blues they are too black Well, I will not turn back Push me aside papa Woah, I won’t give a jack, baba Cause your blacklist blues Only gives me less, give me less to lose You gotta sing your own song But it makes your path so long But there ain’t no pigeonhole Woah, where you can put my soul When the lines they are too blurred And the boundaries diverge Man, that’s where I want to be Woah, that’s where I’ve got to be And your blacklist blues Only gives me less, give me less to lose Turn your head and lay me low You can take me off your radio show You say I ain’t so cool Woah, I ain’t so cool to be your tool I feel your knife into my heart This blacklist is just the start But when your bad deeds are done Your small world is just a setting sun Cause your blacklist blues Only gives me less, give me less to lose. © 2014. Charlie’s Smile Silence! The darkest morning. Snow has fallen  Through the cold, cold night. Grab a cup of tea And soon it's time to be Out on my way. I look into his room, His eyes wide open  And then Charlie smiles..... Roasting! In Hell's Kitchen  Halfway through my shift Six more hours to go! Waiters keep a-running, "Checks-on" keep a-coming, It never ends! There's a photo on the wall, Eyes of blue And I see Charlie's smile! Bitter! In the cold wind. Sleet bites my face I make my way back home. Key is in the door, Coat hung in the hall, It's good to be here! And waiting in the room, His eyes wide open And then Charlie smiles... As I walk into the room His eyes of forever blue And Charlie's smile.... © 2014. New Tradition Music.

Restless Man When daylight is breaking through It’s time to roll there’s things to do Hit the road and hit it hard I’ve got a plan and it’s time to start No “take it cool” it’s all wham bam Cause I am just a restless man Hang on tight for the ride ‘cause I am so restless inside Board that plane going south They’d better be ready for me when I get off I’m travelling there to seek the truth They’ll be no prisoners when I am through No “take it cool” it’s all wham bam Cause I am just a restless man Hang on tight for the ride ‘cause I am so restless inside It’s Friday night we’ve got a show Pack the car we’re ready to go Sound-check fast and check the clock Jiffling feet I’m ready to rock No “take it cool” it’s all wham bam Cause I am just a restless man Hang on tight for the ride ‘cause I am so restless inside © 2014. In Paradise 04:45
In Paradise Sunrise over blue water, Soft sand; an endless beach. Sea breeze blows upon me gently, Always out of reach. “Rush-hour” on a busy Four Mile, No cars on this “street”. Sunscreen; better watch my shoulders, Out in this tropical heat (oh yeah). Beach cafe, Americano coffee, A walk down Macrossan Street. Window shopping in the sunshine There’s a spring in my feet. Lazing on a sunny Four Mile, Lunch with a bottle of wine. Arvo down at the marina, Everything here is just fine (oh yeah!) Was it all in a dream? Was it all so far away? Are you going to return? Yes, I’m going back, going back to stay ... In Paradise….. Reef boats all returning safely, Stroll down to Rex Smeale Park, Sunset over distant mountains; The day slips into dark. Meet friends dinning out at 2 Fish, “Seafood Platter” is so nice! No place could be any finer, Than here in Paradise (oh yeah!) Was it all in a dream? Was it all so far away? Are you going to return? Yes, I’m going back, going back to stay… In Paradise….. © 2014. New Tradition Music.

Katie Shoot The Gun Katie shoot the gun, oh baby Katie shoot the gun, ah ha Pull the trigger on, my baby On the innocent one uh huh Load the chamber with the bullet Pull the trigger and... Oh Katie shoots the gun Katie shoot the gun, oh baby Katie shoot the gun, ah ha He never hurt no one no way So why do you hit and run, uh huh? You never think of consequences It’s indiscriminate When Katie shoots the gun But when Jimmy tried to speak out Oh oh oh oh that’s when he knew That his number was up And when Jimmy tried to face her Oh oh oh oh that’s when he knew That Katie’s got a gun But when I left Jimmy gasping Oh oh oh oh that when he knew His life would slip away And when he sought retribution Oh oh oh oh that’s when he knew That Katie would have her way Katie shoot the gun, oh baby Katie shoot the gun, ah ha The blood’s on everyone oh baby When you shot that gun There’ll be no trial for Katie ‘Cause she was just the front For “The Man” that owns the gun. © 2014. The Great Divide Standing up here on the Great Divide We’ve taken positions, no place to hide Facts are facts but opinions are dear How can we move forwards from here? I’m staring out from the Great Divide Compromise will be a matter of pride Bridges will burn and trust be torn You and I with battle lines drawn Standing on the Great Divide The future only we decide I stand on shale awaiting a landslide We’re standing on the Great Divide There wasn’t always a Great Divide A time in life when we are allies But people change as did we A nihilist you came to be Standing on the Great Divide The future only we decide I stand on shale awaiting a landslide We’re standing on the Great Divide Is there a way to bridge the Great Divide? Someone must step to the other side! I want to jump so I can be free Of the great divide between you and me Standing on the Great Divide The future only we decide I stand on shale awaiting a landslide We’re standing on the Great Divide © 2014 New Tradition Music.

Ten Thousand Miles The street lights on the port side Fade away and flicker out of sight. Into the inky darkness, As I soar away into the black of night. A sad farewell at the departure gate And now I’m on my own. A pang of pain in my heart to let me know I’m travelling ten thousand miles from home. The “angel” of the cabin Flits from seat to seat and row to row. Her reassuring smile, Helps to heal the pain that just won’t let me go. Please cut me loose, I need to free my mind I’m here on my own. I’m so confused; I fall into a troubled sleep I’m travelling ten thousand miles from home?   Always steadfast in my mission, Resolute and my aims were always true. But the dream became a nightmare And now it’s just a thing I have to do. In a tourist town, in a foreign land, I’ve got to make it on my own. Too much to lose, I need to see this through I’m travelling ten thousand miles from home. © 2014. New Tradition Music.

about

about

Stompin' on Spiders England, UK

Stompin' on Spiders is a musical collective formed at a Blues festival in April 2009. The band's stripped-back acoustic Blues/Rock style is individual as it is unique, blending the traditional ethos of Blues music with a very modern edge. A "new tradition" is how one music journalist described Stompin' on Spiders; "a radical mix of stripped-back blues and roots inspired by international events". ... more
