This mellow Blues-based song was specially written for Charlie, Gazza’s first grandson.

Inspired after hearing the Blues being played on a Celtic Harp at a Sunday Market in the tropics, Gazza set to work to write a song about Charlie, whose infectious infant smile, deep blues eyes and curly auburn hair can melt anyone’s frozen disposition on a bitter English winter’s day.

“Charlie’s Smile” features the wonderful talent of Australian Celtic harpist Debbie Robinson (aka Simply Deb) from the town of Kuranda in Far North Queensland.

Silence!
The darkest morning.
Snow has fallen 
Through the cold, cold night.
Grab a cup of tea
And soon it's time to be
Out on my way.
I look into his room,
His eyes wide open 
And then Charlie smiles.....

Roasting!
In Hell's Kitchen 
Halfway through my shift
Six more hours to go!
Waiters keep a-running,
"Checks-on" keep a-coming,
It never ends!
There's a photo on the wall,
Eyes of blue
And I see Charlie's smile!

Bitter!
In the cold wind.
Sleet bites my face
I make my way back home.
Key is in the door,
Coat hung in the hall,
It's good to be here!
And waiting in the room,
His eyes wide open
And then Charlie smiles...

As I walk into the room
His eyes of forever blue
And Charlie's smile....
